Sociological importance. More than just portraits, what’s really at the heart of Folded Map is humanity’s desire to connect on a deeper level. Tonika quickly discovered that her subjects were interested in getting to know one another, so she encouraged them to experience each other’s neighborhoods while she filmed the exchanges.
